Need for Speed is an open world racing video game developed by Ghost Games and published by Electronic Arts, released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2015, and to be released for Microsoft Windows in 2016. It is the twenty-second installment in the long-running Need for Speed series, and was a full reboot of the franchise. It marks the series' second eighth generation installment, and was the first Need for Speed title to only be on eighth generation hardware. It marks the franchise's first return to the import scene and tuner culture focus since the release of 2010's Need for Speed: World. Latest update is the Legends Update which features new cars from past NFS Games and also songs from past NFS games as well even a rep level increase from 60 to 70.

The first gameplay footage of the pre-alpha build for Need for Speed was revealed at EA's press conference at E3 on June 15, 2015. The E3 presentation shows a part of the story, followed by the customization of a Subaru BRZ which showed the new and improved customization system, and the 'action camera' which was later to revealed to be one of the five different camera angles. There's five different gameplay types: Speed, Style, Crew, Build, and Outlaw where players can earn points for engaging in to progress in the game through five overlapping storylines. Need for Speed takes place in the fictional city of Ventura Bay and its surroundings which is based on Los Angeles.

Need for Speed has a redesigned 'Wrap Editor', and body modifications return to the series after nearly 5 years. The game features real-life tuning companies including RAUH-Welt Begriff, SEIBON, and RTR Mustang. A new 'Handling Slider' was exhibited in the E3 gameplay video, which combines the best elements of the earlier Black Box titles' grippy tires, as well as the drift style of the newer Criterion titles.

The story revolves around the player and a small ragtag group of racers waiting to be noticed by any of the game's five icons, all of them being real-world motorsport and street racing figures. Spike (Adam Long) wants to impress Magnus Walker, Amy (Faye Marsay) wants to impress Akira Nakai, Robyn (Christina Wolfe) wants to impress Risky Devil, Manu (Howard Charles) wants to impress Ken Block, and Travis (Leo Gregory) wants to impress Shinichi Morohoshi. As the game progresses, the player earns money and reputation among the other drivers and people he meets along the way. There are five ways to play and become the Ultimate Icon: Outlaw, Style, Build, Speed and Crew.
Small Heading
Become an Outlaw, messing with and escaping from the cops. Always looking to raise the stakes through risk vs reward driving, pushing the limits and looking over your shoulder. Live life on the edge as you crave the thrill of the chase. Usually found prowling Tokyo’s expressways late at night in any one of his heavily modified and brightly coloured Lamborghinis, little is known about the real Shinichi Morohoshi, a man with one foot in normal society and one in the underworld. Morohoshi-san is a walking contradiction, an oxymoron caught between his love of the fastest, the loudest and the flashiest street cars in existence and a desire to keep who and what he is, to himself.

You could call Morohoshi-san many things, but subtle isn’t one of them... Nothing represents that better than his first love, a 1999 Lamborghini Diablo SV. Usually spotted on the expressways and parking areas of Tokyo in the early hours of the morning, the super-low, super-loud V12 Diablo is hard to miss, with its dazzling magenta paint, crackling straight-pipe exhaust and arsenal of lighting effects.

Need for Speed Outlaw

Need for Speed Style

Style is pure expression through driving, sending your car into a corner sideways with ultimate precision. It’s the feeling of freedom for that split second as your tires leave the ground, when you find yourself in a place where only you and the car exist. For some, style is all that matters. Years of driving in top-tier rally, X Games competitions and his famous Gymkhana videos watched by hundreds of millions of people around the world have honed his skills behind the wheel. Few, if any, can match his ability to throw a flame-belching car sideways with such incredible precision. In a realm where an inch can mean the difference between worldwide fame or global ridicule, Block rules the streets.

1965 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn

Mustang purists look away; Ken Block’s first-gen 1965 Ford Mustang, also known as ‘The Hoonicorn’, is not exactly what you’d call period correct. An 845hp Roush Yates Ford V8 gulps down air through eight individual throttles reaching through the hood as it sends 845 horsepower to all four wheels via a custom six-speed sequential dogbox and all-wheel drive driveline. Custom built from the ground up and created for slaying tyres and not much else, simply put, the Hoonicorn is the automotive embodiment of pure, unadulterated terror.

Need for Speed Build

Nakai-san
1974 Porrsche 911
Build is where you take your car to the extreme through both visual and performance modification. The constant need to improve and personalize, shaping the car to your own vision. Craftsmen build, searching for perfection.

Akira Nakai is a true automotive artist, an artisan builder who uses feel, emotion and nuance to build some of the world’s wildest Porsches. Based out of a small shop in the back blocks of rural Chiba, near Tokyo, Nakai-san has taken his long-running Rauh Welt Begriff brand of Porsche tuning to the world, and now spends much of his time travelling across the globe, building super-aggressive cars for an almost cult-like following of customers.

1974 Porsche 911

Nakai-san of Japan’s RWB builds beautiful cars, but his 1974 Porsche 911 ‘Stella Artois’ isn’t one of them. This brutal matte-black fighter is the first Porsche that Nakai-san ever owned, and over the years he has slowly shaped it into a dark, brooding and complete monster of a ride. This famous 911 has long been known for its flame spitting gear changes, eyeball-bursting corner speed and an exhaust note that sounds more like a tank than a luxury sports car. Stella Artois is an impressive animal, as long as you have the skill to tame it.

Need for Speed Speed

Magnus Walker
1971 Porsche 911
Speed is the connection that exists between car and driver that is only present at top speeds. It’s about keeping your nerve and never lifting off the gas. It’s about the adrenaline rush of taking a corner at high speed, having faith that your car will hold firm and not lose grip. The fearless always push the limits. Magnus WalkerAlthough no single person can be credited with the rise in popularity of the air-cooled Porsche, the enigmatic 911 fanatic Magnus Walker has definitely played his part.

One of the most recognisable characters in the automotive world, not just for the dreadlocks and majestic beard, but the accompanying roar of a turbocharged flat-six cylinder howling through the open exhausts of a Porsche “Widowmaker” 930 Turbo.

Magnus Walker’s 1971 Porsche 911 is a true classic, but it’s far from being a precious show pony; this car gets used and abused in the best way possible. The ‘277’, as it is commonly known, is a raw, visceral, canyon-carving screamer that strikes a perfect balance between weight, handling, braking and power. This naturally-aspirated boxer-powered street brawler has seen its fair share of battles and the scrapes, chipped paint and blemishes show it. If ever there was a perfect car to represent its owner, the howling 277 is it.

Need for Speed Crew

Subartu BRZ
Chicago Risky Devil
Ride together with your Crew and never hit the streets alone. Put your faith in others as bumpers come within inches of one another. This is the skill of close proximity chaos.

Since 2007, one name has been synonymous with the underground street drifting scene in Chicago; Risky Devil.  Fish, AJ, Cook, Stevo and T2 are drivers of some of the most badass, tyre-incinerating and envy-inducing street sliders found anywhere, this crew has long been running the midnight streets in this part of the world.

Always coating their machines in a violent shade of blood red, Risky Devil has constantly pushed the boundaries to the absolute limit in search of perfect form, both when it comes to driving and their VIP-inspired, spark-throwing style.

Subaru BRZ

In an era of safe, predictable and boring automobiles, the Subaru BRZ and its Toyota counterpart are the nimble, fun, rear-wheel-drive toys that the world desperately needs. An automotive blank canvas, the BRZ is made for modification, and few modify it better than the Risky Devil crew. They’ve taken this fun little sports car to the next level, with super-wide Rocket Bunny haunches, AirLift suspension and a whining supercharger under the hood. Simple, clean and built to drift, the Risky Devil BRZ is ready for battle.

Take your ride through wide city streets, push it sideways down narrow mountain roads and hit the limiter as you put the pedal to the metal on the freeway. With plenty to see, Ventura Bay is the perfect place for you to show off your skills and get the recognition and respect you deserve.
The Districs of Ventura Bay
Ventura Bay

Situated above Burnwood sits Crescent Mountains. Starting at Buck Foothills, a place made famous by Buck Foothills View, long sweeping roads will take you deep into the mountains and give you spectacular views of the city below. Travel further North and you’ll find yourself in Granite Spring, home to both the Granite Spring Monument and the Crescent Mountains Bridge. For those feeling adventurous, exploring even further North will take you towards Weid Canyon and its Dam.

Of course, what goes up has to come back down, and with a series of sweeping roads trailing off below there’s no better place for those looking to shred some tires and earn some major Style REP.

NFS Crescent Mountains

Nestled in between Burnwood and South Port sits Royal Park. Despite being the primary residential zone in the city, it’s best known for its commercial district and towering buildings which can be seen for miles across Ventura Bay. Also to the West of Royal Park is GHOST Stadium, the perfect landmark for those looking to meet with their Crew before hitting the streets together. Or take a drive eastbound and you’ll find yourself at the Lone Palm Village Mall, with roads southbound slingshotting around Arcadia Park before leading into South Port.

NFS Royal Park
NFS South Port

Looking to take advantage of some narrow roads? Head on over to South Port, the industrial hub of Ventura Bay. Dominated by the VB Petrochemical Company and the San Pedro Docks, it won’t be fronting any tourism campaigns for Ventura Bay, but it’s the perfect place for those looking to get away from the inner city streets and let off some steam. With the Ventura Bay PD Headquarters in this part of town too it’s an Outlaw’s playground, with plenty of cops to mess with as you lead them on chases around South Port and beyond.

NFS El Rey

Located in the far west of the city is El Rey, a largely mountainous area, with plenty to see providing you’re going slow enough to take in the view. There are two ways through El Rey; the freeway which runs along its Western coastline, perfect for those yearning to hit those top speeds, or up and across the mountain range through Sinner’s Peak.

El Rey Pier offers visitors a welcome place to park up and take a break before jumping on the freeway and making the drive across town. Don’t go too fast though, you’ll want to keep your eyes open for Castle Hill Falls.

NFS Franklin Terrace

Head west over the South Port Bridge and you’ll find yourself in Franklin Terrace, where numerous tech companies such as BBA Industries have set up shop. Sweeping roads connect Apollo Heights and Harbor View, while good freeway connections to the North, South and West provide easy access to other areas of Ventura Bay.

Need for Speed Videos

Burnwood is home to your garage, and the source of some of the best up and coming talent in the world of car culture. Downtown roads connect office and commercial buildings, while on the outskirts the industrial areas and railyard offer an alternative for those looking to take their build out away from the tight inner city layout. To the North sits Los Sol, home of the iconic Los Sol Bridge, and Breckenholl, which offers a gateway to the beautiful Crescent Mountains.
